Well the family got through a long and busy Holy Week with a great Easter!
It was nice to have Grandma and Grandpa LaRoy here to take Karissa and Zadock when Mom and Dad were busy. Karissa attended her first Maundy Thursday service, her first Good Friday service, plus Easter Sunrise and a Regular Easter service.... it was a full four days! As some have told us, "church, church, church, and more church." All to the glory of our risen Savior!!
Sorry to those of you in Jewett who didn't get to see her Easter morning... the sunrise service was enough for her that early in the morning, so a good nap at home was in order before going off to Prattsville's Easter service.
Here's two short stories of how life is with a 3 month old from our Easter day...
On Easter morning, at about 6:20am, we were all finally ready to get in the car and make our way up to Jewett for the Sunrise service. Karissa was all bundled up in her carseat and covered with the winter fleece cover to keep the wind and cold out (it was a pretty cold and windy Easter morning) and we all had our coats and gloves on. Just as we were about to go out the door, Daddy hears a cough and a "plaaa" sound (you know the spit-up sound babies make)... Dad uncovers the carseat... and Karissa has spit up a gob of milk all over herself and the carseat! So, out she comes... off comes the pretty white sweater now soaked, off comes her dress and tights(only slightly wet after pressed in a dry towel), and off comes the sopping wet onesie... a quick change of the diaper (while all the clothes are off anyways)... another onesie goes on, the dress and tights are thrown back on... all this, while dad cleans spit-up out of the carseat. By the time we are ready to go again it is 6:40, and it takes 12-14 minutes to get up to Jewett!
But we weren't too late, plus the service was short, so we didn't start until 7:05.
Later in the day, after a hearty Easter ham dinner was had by the family, we decided to go for a walk/hike over in Grand Gorge to walk off the huge dinner we just ate (and so dad could do some geocaching as well)... of course from the time we decided to go until we actually left it was something like 45 minutes... terrible... We used to just make a decision and leave at the drop of hat.
So our parenting life lesson from all this... Life is unpredictable, yet not as spontaneous as one would think, with a 3 month old.
Also being a Town means that Murphy's Law is always stubbornly present... that's one family trait I hope Karissa doesn't inherit!
