Geo-what?!

Sunday afternoon was a beautiful day to get out for a hike. so off all 4 of us went to find a geocache... a geo-what?! A geocache! (pronounced Geo cash)... It is our new hobby. all over the world people hide little containers of all sorts of sizes, then get the GPS coordinates (you know the Longitude and Latitude) and then go online to www.geocaching.com and log in their cache for other geocachers to find. Other geocachers put the coordinates into their GPS and go searching!
It is amazing fun to get out into places you've never even seen or thought of going before, and going tresure hunting... it will be great fun when Karissa is older as many caches are child friendly, meaning they are an easy hike to get to and somewhat easy to find and contain kid friendly items (like stickers, toy cars, small toy figurines, etc.)... when you find the cache you take an item and leave an item for the next person to take.

So we went out onto the Catskill Scenic Trail between by Stamford and Grand Gorge. It was a lovely flat hike for our first hike of the year, and for Karissa's first hike as well... the trail used to be a railroadway, but now has been converted into a nice wide hiking trail.
After finding 2 caches we headed back to the car, and boy were we all tired, even though it was a flat hike with hardly any incline! we are so out of shape after a long lazy winter (including Zadock)! But going out to find caches all over the place will help us find our strength as well. There are a bunch of geocaches all over the Catskills, and we'll find them each one by one.
